Kerry Washington And Scandal

I have been meaning to write about Scandal a long time now but since I did not have time to blog, it never happened. But, OH.MY.GOD, Scandal where have you been all my life.

I am a huge Kerry Washington fan and heard about some promotional work she did for Scandal, but not being a TV watcher; I did not start watching until the trail episode when I saw the "one minute" clip. I watched it back to back about ten times before going to ON Demand to not only watch that episode but the whole season 1.

The chemistry between her and Tony Goldwyn was so palpable and thick that you can cut it with a knife and I was hooked and my life has not been the same since.
To start with, mad props to Shonda Rhimes. I was already sweet on Shonda when I read about her taking Issa Raye under her wings by working with her to develop a new series(Oprah, this is how it is done)Then to find out she was behind Scandal made me respect her even more.

Shonda paid her dues and accumulated capital that she can spend on a show like Scandal being led by a woman of color. By being successful with Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, the powers that be knew she had the chops and the wherewithal to pull this off. So thanks to the TV gods, the casting and Shonda Rhimes for bringing Tony Goldwyn and Kerry Washington together because watching their love scene is better than any porn.

Each and every cast member bring something special to the dynamics of the show. I will be writing about all the individual casts, but today I am going to start with Kerry.

Kerry has been around for a while. I enjoyed her performance in Mr and Mrs Smith with my other favorite actress Angelina Jolie. That movie also had two leads whose chemistry was so palpable. I loved her in The Last King of Scotland and save the last dance, but most importantly, I have enjoyed seeing Kerry in Political shows and how intelligent, articulate and politically savvy she is.
I was very impressed when she coolly schooled a Republican Operative on Bill Maher's Real Time, her intelligence and grace shone through. You would have thought she was my best friend the way that I was hollering at the TV.

She clearly has paid her dues and was ready to embrace this opportunity once it came her way. It took almost 40 years for a woman of color to be a lead in a network series, here's hoping that it never takes that long again. An interviewer asked Kerry if she was under pressure for the show to do well and she said the pressure was on the audience to show that America was ready was ready to watch shows that reflect all our stories. Well Kerry, the Gladiators have spoken and the mainstream media is finally paying attention. Networks can not ever say that audiences will not watch a show a minority in the lead.
It is not often that you watch TV and see the exploits of a woman of color who is dynamic and successful professionally but cannot hold it together in her personal life, so thank you to Ms Washington and the Scandal crew for giving me life every Thursday with your antics at OPA and the Whitehouse.  The wardrobe will get a special blog, because that is shoe and clothes porn every thursday.
Kerry, you have arrived and I hope you continue be grounded like you have been all these years and hopefully Scandal runs for many many years.

Ann Curry Is Winning...Matt Lauer Is Not

Oh Matt, how the mighty has fallen! For those who believe in karma, this quite a swift retribution against "+"Matt Lauer who only a year ago was on top of the world having just signed a $25m a year deal and wanted Ann tossed out because he did not have chemistry with her.

Ann Curry the affable news woman who sometimes come across as awkward when interviewing celebrities but really shines when she is tackling serious news was made the fall guy for the ratings slide at the +Today show. Not only did they humiliate her in the public manner in which she was shoved out after 15 years at the +NBC, the NBC brass were using their friends in the media to force her to quit by disseminating unflattering stories about her and building up their new investment in Matt, oh man, did they ever misfire.

Who will soon forget Ann crying inconsolably during the few minutes that was allotted to her to say her goodbye and the way she recoiled when Matt Lauer tried to kiss her, I must say that was good TV though, the best and only unscripted moment on morning TV. But yeah, so they give this woman that has worked for them for almost 20 years a few minutes to say goodbye to the audience while Meredith Viera was given a week long good bye.

Well, for me and a few women that I know, we felt there was something ugly about how NBC treated her and I swore never to watch the Today Show again, apparently, many people felt the same way and their ratings have tumbled since then.

While Ann has kept a dignified silence through it all, Matt can't stop talking. Trying to get the public to stop hating and watch him again. The more he talks, the more he exposes the inner workings and back stabbings that is the mainstay of morning tv. This make for better viewing that the nonsense that they try to force feed their audience every morning.
Who knew that +Katie Couric who left on such a big fanfare to anchor evening news over at the CBS and could not cut it, wanted to come back to Today Show so that Ann does not get promoted. Who knew that the always perky Katie was a mean girl to Ann, making fun of her clothes. Say it ain't so, isn't Katie among the women in the media who are all about Girl's girl. Don't tell me behind that fake smile of Katie's there is a mean streak that will lead her to taunt her fellow woman in a workplace.

Oh Matt, please keep talking and letting us in as to how mean and nasty things are behind the scenes.
Now I promise to watch the Today Show again if you guys will talk openly about the shenanigans  and drop the syrupy we are family act.

Ann I hope you have popped your corn and enjoying watching Matt twist in the wind.

Angelina Jolie Giving Voice to Rape Victims

Angelina Jolie has teamed up with the British Foreign Secretary to raise awareness and help bring to an end the indiscriminate use of rape as a weapon of war in Congo.
This of course is not new for The Jolie who has tirelessly campaigned for the last 12 years to help give voice to to the voiceless, shine light at the inhumane and inhumanity perpetrated against the refugees who most government wish their existence remain in the dark.

Enough of Pippa Middleton

Is any body else sick of Pippa Middleton? The media's sick obsession with this woman is annoying me as much as the non stop coverage of reality celebutards. The woman's only claim to fame is that her sister married Prince William.

Pippa is not really beautiful, her face looks like prune from too much tanning, but she is white and skinny so that equates beauty in the eye of the media, the same media that has tried for years to convince me that Jennifer Anniston is sexy. Saying it repeatedly doesn't make it so and needs to take some time out of the limelight because the same media that is up her ass right now will turn on her in a very short time.

TOM CRUISE- A lesson for Hollywood Stars

Whatever happened to the world's biggest movie star? I could not help but shake my head in disbelief as I read about Tom doing Ryan Seacrest's radio show and I thought to myself, HOW HAS THE MIGHTY FALLEN!

There was a time that the sycophantic media dared not write or say anything negative about Tom, they were all fallen over themselves to heap praises on him and even his sudden abandonment of Nicole Kidman did not change that, though truth be told, Nicole did not use her divorce to lunch her movie career unlike another actress that will not let us forget.
Tom seemed invincible and he did movies that critics might call pop corn but we all flocked to the theaters to see and in Hollywood, money talks. Yes, I enjoyed his movies, I might even say that I am/was a fan which is why I cringe these days when I see what he has been reduced to.

Tom had a powerhouse Publicist, and much like Jennifer Annistons' Stephen Huvane, Pat Kingsley created an image of Tom that was not really Tom, she managed his image to the point that the media wanted us to believe that Tom literally saves people every where he goes, then he starts to believe his own press and fires Kingsley and the manufactured public personae came crumbling. Therein lies the problem with manufactured images, after a while you feel stifled and you want your real self to show but the real you is not what people associate with your name and image and that is when problem starts for the star.

Tom must have believed that these phony people in the media cared about him, there he was on Oprah- his friend, after all he just attended her party with his new girlfriend, Katie Holmes. So there he was jumping on Oprah's couch trying to convince us that he is so in love he does not know what to do with himself, and he was doing it on his friend's show. Well, when the fallout from the couch jumping erupted, Oprah denied her GOOD FRIEND,Tom before the cock even crowed once, that my friends is the nature of friendship in Hollywood that woe is the celebrity that thinks these are real friendship.

So Tom became the whipping boy for all media, even those that used to kiss his ass could not wait to jump on the Tom bashing bandwagon, this is why it pains me to watch Tom go through his "Please like me again" tour. Those same sycophants in the media who could not wait to bash him are the same ones now acting like there are best friends with him starting with Oprah. I hope Tom has learned a hard lesson, and from here on learns to be true to himself. It is better to be hated for who you are than to be loved for who you are not, the same public that you sold your soul for will turn on you in a New York minute.

It is interesting that Tom and Katie were in the eye of the media storm at the same time as Brad and Angelina, the way they managed the media in such different ways should be a lesson for celebrities. The media storm that Brad and Angelina had to weather especially Angelina with Jennifer Anniston wedging her relentless passive aggressive media onslaught, the fact that they have come out the other side still intact, without kissing the media ass and doing it on their own terms probably irks those tabloid people who wanted them on their knees and doing precisely what Tom is doing now tells me that they stayed true to themselves and they have talent, at the end of the day, that trumps the lies and pr machinations and manufactured images.

Tom, I hope things turn around for you and you start making blockbuster movies again, if that time has passed for you, I hope you have the grace to accept it without bringing yourself so low and enjoy the memories of being on top for almost twenty years.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! Jennifer Anniston will go to her grave a bitter and deranged woman, how else can you explain this woman's inability to move on from a divorce that will be four years next month, this woman has whined about her divorce almost as long as the damn marriage lasted.

I have always thought that Jennifer was a cold, conniving, manipulative fake bitch clothed in the girl next door image by her PR people. Either the pity party backfired so badly and had her stuck as the pitiful, pathetic ex wife who is unlucky in love that she is now trying to reinvent herself by attacking Angelina Jolie every opportunity she gets while praising the ex husband that dumped her for the ever luscious Jolie, or she has lost her mind.

Her latest attempt at a lame joke about the Jolie-Pitt's children is beyond the pale, how interesting that she has admitted reading Angelina's interviews but now she even knows her children's name and she is not even ashamed to admit that? I hope Brad and Angelina have serious security around her their children.

Oh, and Jennifer claims she did not know what was going on, REALLY, Jennifer, did your best friend Courtney not say that Brad was honest with you about the falling in love with Angelina but fighting those emotions. Well, yo u tried dissing Angelina by saying considering the source of the information, well, Brad just told Rolling Stone magazine that Mr and Mrs Smith is his favorite movie of Angelina's, because that was where he fell in love with Ms Jolie- now consider that source and how uncool was Brad.

By the way Jennifer, Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt called and he wants his style back.

"What Angelina said was uncool" so said the uncoolest chick in Hollywood about the coolest woman. The name Jennifer Anniston must be synonymous with PATHETIC. How else can you explain this woman's inability to move on from a divorce almost four years later.

Vanity Fair launched the pity party four years ago, and we heard how Brad Pitt is missing a sensitivity chip, fast forward four years and she is singing a different tune, the divorce was amicable, she is proud of all Brad's achievement but Angelina gets her blood boiling, so if the divorce was amicable and Brad did not cheat on you, why the pity party? and why hate on Angelina?

Jennifer could it be because that the beautiful and talented Angelina reminds you every day what a pathetic human being you are. You gave up your marriage for movie stardom which to this day has eluded you, and yet Ms Jolie is able to juggle six children, have a red hot movie career and seem to make Brad happy. Could it be that bad ass Jolie, who can fly a plane, go into war torn Iraq while pregnant with twins while you can only go to Mexico makes you feel inadequate? The Jolie have world leaders on speed dial and you have Huvane and tabloid editors.

It must hurt to see that Brad upgraded, now instead of being stifled, he is creatively the best he has been, instead of just barbecuing with the Arquets and going to Mexico every vacation , he now vacations in Paul Allen's villa in south of France and now hangs out with the Deniro's and Eastwood's, you know like Hollywood royalty. If you are proud of Brad then you must thank Angelina for making him the man you can be proud of, but we don't expect that from you Jennifer because you are the most contrived, passive aggressive, bitter conniving hag in Hollywood. You know that your days are numbered and the only way you can stay relevant is by attaching your name to the Goddess, Angelina Jolie. That will get you on tabloid covers and tabloid shows but whatever happened to that movie stardom that you sacrificed your marriage for? Oh, yes, you are hoping your dog movie will get your career out of the doldrums so you can be more than the former wife of Brad Pitt who was infamously dumped by John Mayer in front of the paparazzi, I will be pissed at Angelina Jolie too, how dare she be that gorgeous and that talented and have Brad Pitt to herself and still be such a good mother, except that we here at Gossip-daily adore Ms Jolie and think she is a fresh breath in the pr manufactured personalities in hollywood, she has managed to forge her own path, and we here SALUTE Angelina Jolie- Team UNCOOL all the way.
